Shock for Fans: Iron Hill Brewery Shuts Doors Overnight

A long-popular brewery and restaurant has abruptly closed three locations in the region — one in South Jersey, one in Philly, and another in Delaware.

"Abruptly," in this case, meant that servers who worked at one brewpub woke up to text messages this morning saying they no longer had jobs, according to an unconfirmed post on Facebook.

Locations Impacted

News quickly spread online Wednesday morning that Iron Hill Brewery's location in Voorhees shut its doors for good practically overnight; however, that's not the end of the story.

WDEL then reported Iron Hill's flagship hangout spot in Newark, DE, which was almost 30 years old, also closed.

And then a third domino fell: Iron Hill Brewery in Chestnut Hill/Philadelphia also faded into history.

Those trying to visit the websites of those locations have been met with pages that no longer exist and Google search results list them as being permanently closed.

Why the Closures Happened

As for why, the restaurant chain told DelawareOnline.com these closures are "part of the company’s ongoing efforts to adapt to a changing business landscape while focusing on strengthening its long-term growth and success."

16 Locations Still Open

Iron Hill has 16 locations that are remaining open, including ten in Pennsylvania, two in Delaware, and one in New Jersey.
