Camden County Man Gets 30 Years
A 25-year-old Camden County man will be well into his 50s before he is released from prison for his role in a fatal shooting three years ago.
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office announced that late last month, Teon Macklin-Goodwine of Clementon was sentenced to 30 years behind bars without the possibility of parole.
Deadly Maple Shade Shooting
His sentence stems from an investigation that began after officers with the Maple Shade Police Department were called to the Fox Meadow apartment complex the evening of January 16th, 2022, for a report of shots fired.
There, 32-year-old Ezekiel Sanders, Jr., of Maple Shade, was found on Gardenia Drive with gunshot wounds and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities said Macklin-Goodwine and a co-conspirator, 24-year-old Gregory Berry of Glassboro, had gone to Sanders' apartment complex with the intention of committing a robbery.
Co-conspirator's Plea Deal
Under a plea agreement, Berry pled guilty last year to first-degree aggravated manslaughter in exchange for a recommended 17-year prison term; he is awaiting sentencing.
Jury Deliberation and Conviction
In Macklin-Goodwine's trial, a jury deliberated for just over two hours and returned guilty verdicts on the following charges:
- First-degree felony murder
- First-degree robbery
- Second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery
- Second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon
- Second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
- Second-degree certain persons not to have weapons
This investigation was conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and the Maple Shade Police Department, with assistance from the Glassboro Police Department.
