A Wall Township man has been sentenced to four and a half years in state prison for killing an 82-year-old Brick Township man in a crash during the summer of 2021.

Back in May, 28-year-old Nolan T. Dickson pleaded guilty to a second-degree vehicular homicide charge.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says on the morning of Sunday, June 27th, 2021, Wall Township police officers responded to the area of Route 35 and Lakewood Road for a report of a head-on motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles.

At the scene, cops located 82-year-old Paul Yuro trapped inside his vehicle. Yuro was extricated and then taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

An investigation determined that Dickson was driving his BMW southbound on Route 35 when he entered the northbound lane and struck Yuro's car.

Authorities say at the time of the crash, Dickson was on his way home from a casino in Atlantic City where he had ingested oxycodone, alprazolam, codeine, and marijuana.

Dickson must serve at least 85%, or almost four years, of his term before becoming eligible for parole.
