NJ Fugitive Charged With Attempted Murder Arrested in GA
A fugitive wanted in connection to a shooting in Monmouth County earlier this year has been located and arrested near Atlanta, Georgia.
27-year-old Andre Paul of Ocean Township is charged with the following:
- First-degree attempted murder
- Two second-degree weapons offenses
- Third-degree hindering apprehension
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says on the night of Monday, May 22nd, officers with the Neptune City Police Department responded to the Brighton Arms Apartment Complex on West Sylvania Avenue for a report of shots fired.
Officers discovered no one was injured but several vehicles and an apartment unit in the complex had been struck by gunfire.
An investigation resulted in Paul being identified as a suspect in the case and charges against him were filed last month.
On Thursday, members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Paul without incident in Stone Mountain, GA, a suburb of Atlanta.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a statement,
The arrest of this individual and others during recent months is illustrative of the strength of law enforcement collaboration in Monmouth County and beyond. This arrest would not have been possible without the efforts of our local U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive Task Force and their partners in the Southeast Region.
Paul remains in custody pending extradition proceedings and court appearances in Monmouth County Superior Court.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
