NJ Man Gets 8 Years in Prison For ‘Large caches’ of Child Porn Material
A man from Monmouth County has been sentenced to eight years behind bars for what authorities called "large caches of child sexual abuse materials" in his home.
35-year-old Jose Gabe Veras of Keansburg was sentenced late last week and, in addition to the prison term, must register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be under parole supervision for life.
An investigation by the Monmouth County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, initiated by a tip received through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, uncovered hundreds of child porn files on various electronic devices in Veras' home.
Veras was arrested without incident at his home in Keansburg in February 2020, indicted in October 2021, and then stood trial this past January.
He was convicted on a charge of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child for the possession of more than 1,000 items of child sexual abuse material.
