Ocean County, NJ, man charged with fatally stabbing elder roommate: Prosecutor
An Ocean County man has been arrested in connection to a fatal stabbing early Friday morning.
Louis Gargiso of Jackson Twp., NJ, charged with murder
Prosecutors say 38-year-old Louis Gargiso of Jackson Township has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Just before 6:00 Friday morning, July 19th, officers with the Jackson Township Police Department were called to a home on Maple Street for a report of an unconscious man.
At the scene, cops found 74-year-old Robert Sunris dead from an apparent stab wound. Officers also observed a knife near the body.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crime Unit, Jackson Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office determined that Gargiso and Sunris were roommates at that Maple Street home and Gargiso was responsible Sunris' death.
Gargiso was taken into custody at the scene without incident and is being held in the Ocean County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
