Best Pet-Friendly Jersey Shore Bets
Not only do you have to worry about keeping the kids entertained over the summer, but your puppy also needs some summer sun.
There are several spots in Monmouth and Ocean Counties that will keep your pooch happy.
The Sandy Hook Bay side of the Gateway National Recreation Park is a pet paradise. So long as dogs are on a leash, they are allowed all year long at Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove. Other spots include:
- The Thompson Park Off-Leash Area in Lincroft
- Wolf Hill Recreation Area in Oceanport
- The 8th Avenue Beach in Asbury Park (don’t forget about Yappy Hour at the Wonderbar) and Fisherman’s Cove,
- 55 acres of marshland along the Manasquan Inlet.
In Ocean County, leashed dogs are allowed at Sunset Beach in Seaside Heights, the Spizzle Creek Bird Blind Trail and there is always the Barnegat light Dog Park, the only place on Long Beach Island where off-leash dogs can run free. These are some great spots for your dog to socialize and enjoy summer at the Shore.
