Originally, this major retailer planned to close 500 of its 800 stores across the country, but now just days later, they've decided to shut down all of them, including several stores in New Jersey, according to reports.

I've always been a big fan of this store.

It's always been my go-to place for projects.

I'm sad to see it go.

Seeing a big decline in business after the pandemic, one of the largest arts and crafts stores nationwide, opening back in the 1940s and currently operating in 49 states, has decided to close.

Joann Fabrics Has Decided to Close ALL Stores

According to the Courier Post, Joann Fabris filed for bankruptcy for a second time this month and sold all of its assets to GA Group.

"The winning bidder, GA Joann Retail Partnership, is a partnership between financial services company GA Group and Joann’s term lenders, that will now oversee the complete liquidation of its assets."

I'm hearing stores will remain open until May.

The Courier Post reports:

JOANN leadership, our Board, advisors and legal partners made every possible effort to pursue a more favorable outcome that would keep the company in business," a Joann spokesperson said in a statement. "We are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on all our stakeholders. We deeply appreciate our dedicated Team Members, our customers and communities across the nation for their unwavering support for more than 80 years.

These are the long-gone NJ mall stores we miss the most

With so many trends of the 1990's back in style, it's a great time to look back at a strong foundation of 80's and 90's culture — New Jersey mall shopping. Some stores were a highlight, every trip.
