The Lakehurst Police Department and the Borough swore in two new officers at a council meeting, Officer Grant Hofferica and Officer Harold Hester at a council meeting.

Grant Hofferica is from Dennisville in Cape May County.

He started his law enforcement career with the North Wildwood Police Department as a SLEO I Special Police Officer and ttended the Cape May County Police Academy SLEO II Class 42 while also working as a SLEO II Police Officer for North Wildwood and Wildwood Police Departments.

Grant was then hired by the Cape May County Sheriffs Office and attended the Cape May County Police Academy Basic Class 42 before being hired by Lakehurst as a lateral transfer in July of this year.

He has successfully completed an intensive Field Training Program with Lakehurst Police.

Harold Hester is a lifelong resident of Lakehurst and attended Brookdale Community College where he obtained his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice.

He also played baseball at Brookdale and received a scholarship to play baseball at Bloomfield College, where he obtained his Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice.

Hester started his career in law enforcement with the Wildwood Police Department as a SLEO II Police Officer and attended the Cape May County Police Academy SLEO II Class 53.

He was hired by Lakehurst Police in September of this year and is currently in the process of an intensive 12 week Field Training Program.

"We would like to take this time to thank everyone that came out to celebrate this night," Lakehurst Police said in a statement. "We would also like to wish Officer Hofferica and Officer Hester a safe and happy career in the Borough of Lakehurst!"
