Learn how to protect your identity while on vacation this summer

Whether you have AAA or not, you're invited to their car care center on Route 37 in Toms River tomorrow morning for a free shredder event.

Between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm you can learn about their free 'ProtectMyID' member benefit, as well as products that can help you protect your identity while on vacation.

AAA will also be offering FREE Vehicle Health Inspection, FREE Battery Check and FREE Tire Pressure Checks.

In addition to offering AAA members the ProtectMyID identity theft protection service, AAA is hoping to help people further secure their personal information.

Here are some stats from AAA on identity theft:

• At least 15 million people were victims of identity theft in 2017.
• Federal authorities believes that number is higher since such crimes often go unknown or unreported.
• Identity thieves strike online, over the phone and by going through your trash.
• The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) estimates that recovering from identity theft takes an average of six months and 200 hours of work.
