We told you that discount grocery chain Lidl was planning on opening a location in Brick. You may not have noticed, but there are already contractors getting to work.

On Wednesday night the town gave the green light for Lidl to put up their signature blue and yellow sign that will be visible from Hooper and Brick Boulevard. We also learned that the planned grand opening is expected to happen sometime in October.

Lidl will be located at the Riverwalk at Brick taking the place of the old Cost Cutters. I think we all believed that space would be vacant forever!

If you're not familiar with Lidl, the grocer got its start in Europe and now is becoming popular in the States, especially here in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The Brick location will be 25,000 square-feet, and like other locations, they will sell the usual groceries and produce. To keep costs down, the majority of Lidl's items are their own private brand.

What makes Lidl unique is that they are fairly small stores, about six aisles. They also feature other products that rotate weekly. One week you may go in and see cool toys for sale, another week it maybe appliances.

I've heard nothing but good things about the other locations in Hazlet, Howell, Lacey, and Eatontown.

Have you had a good experience at Lidl? Would you recommend it? Shoot me an email and let me know. Matt.Ryan@townsquaremedia.com.
