It looks like Lidl is trying to become THE grocery store chain in 2020.

The German discount grocer has just announced that they will be opening 10 new stores in New Jersey that will hopefully open their doors by the end of 2021.

And one of those new locations is right here at the Jersey Shore.

A new Lidl will be built on Hooper Ave in Brick but we don't know what the specific address will be just yet.

This is good news that I know you will love: these 10 new stores will create about 400 jobs for New Jersey residents!

Here are the other 9 stores that are being built in NJ:

  • Bayonne: Harbor View Marketplace; Route 440 and Goldsborough Dr.
  • Egg Harbor: Fire Rd.
  • Garwood: South Ave.
  • Glassboro: Delsea Dr.
  • Gloucester: Blackwood
  • Lawrenceville: S. Black Horse Pike
  • Park Ridge: Kinderkamack Rd.
  • Weehawken: Park Ave.
  • Woodbridge: St. Georges Ave.

Just an FYI, Lidl currently has locations in Hazlet, Howell, Lacey and Eatontown.

If Lidl is able to pull off this major expansion, that means that the number of Lidl stores in NJ will double!

There are also 40 other Lidl store locations that are being built across the East Coast in addition to the ten new stores planned for New Jersey.
