Restaurants and businesses in Long Branch are adding some new laminated signage outside their doors to remind customers to wear a face covering in the community.

The Greater Long Branch Area Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Monmouth Medical Center to distribute flyers for businesses to help spread the message to mask up, be socially distant and wash your hands.

"The basics of wearing a mask, physical distancing and hand washing really work in preventing the spread," Carney tells 92.7 WOBM News.

The signs, which are on display in restaurants and other businesses throughout Long Branch and the surrounding community, read in English and Spanish: “FACE COVERING Required to Enter” and “Thank You for Helping Keep our Essential Heroes and Communities Safe.”

It's not just about encouraging everyone to follow these simple health and safety guidelines but also Monmouth Medical Center's way of thanking the businesses who have been following the rules and keeping the Shore community safe.

"Our thought was to partner with our local businesses to thank them for everything their doing to keep our communities safe as well as their staff and our frontline heroes safe," Carney said. "We felt it was a really powerful way to say that we're coming together to prevent the spread of the virus and protect everybody. Throughout the pandemic our community has done an amazing job recognizing and supporting our heroes here at Monmouth Medical Center."

If your restaurant or business does not have a sign but would like one, you're in luck.

Carney encourages you to contact the Community Outreach Office at Monmouth Medical Center by calling 732-923-7506.
