With online shopping more convenient than ever, many major retailers struggle to maintain their once-thriving brick-and-mortar locations. Industry experts agree—it’s not a passing phase.

One of the most recognized names in American retail, Macy’s, has announced store closures nationwide.

Macy's says the closures are part of a "broader restructuring plan to streamline operations and cut losses from underperforming locations."

Rather than give up completely, Macy’s has tried to adapt.

One of their recent strategies involves Macy’s Backstage—an outlet-style concept offering discounted name-brand goods.

These mini-stores are usually located within existing Macy’s locations and provide a more budget-conscious experience for in-person shoppers.
