The Manchester man who previously pleaded guilty to selling another township resident fentanyl that he later fatally overdosed on has now been sentenced for causing the death, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

Manchester Police responded to a home in the township on August 16, 2021, after getting a call about an unresponsive male but when officers arrived on the scene they saw that the 35-year-old man was already dead from an apparent drug overdose.

The ensuing investigation by Manchester Police along with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit quickly produced evidence that pinned 34-year-old Dandre Tubbs as the man who supplied the victim with fentanyl the day before he overdosed and died.

The presence of fentanyl in the victim’s system was confirmed in the toxicology report and with this information, Prosecutor Billhimer said that the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the fentanyl was the cause of his death.

In addition, Tubbs was sentenced to seven years for the Distribution of Fentanyl and four years for an unrelated charge of Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute and Prosecutor Billhimer said that all three sentences will run concurrently.

Prosecutor Billhimer also announced that Ocean County Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Kristin Pressman and Ocean County Assistant Prosecutor Victoria Veni handled the case on behalf of the State of New Jersey.
