After eight months of renovations, family restaurant Max's Bar & Grill in Long Branch --formerly known as Max's Famous Hot Dogs -- is set to reopen on September 29th.

"We felt like it was time," said Jennifer Maybaum of her family's restaurant. "We've never done a full overhaul of the restaurant."

According to APP.com, the makeover consists, "of a modernized restaurant centered around a large bar with a dozen beers on tap (local breweries included), a specialty drink menu, a brand-new kitchen, garage doors that roll up to let the ocean air breeze roll into the dining room, outdoor tables and an evolving food menu."

But don't worry, the hotdog is here to stay! New menu additions include shrimp cocktail, a German-style pretzel with beer cheese appetizer, and sausage and pepper bread. There will also be healthy additions including salads and Max's burger made from scratch.

There is also talk of the venue booking live entertainment , incorporating Sunday Brunch into their menu, and the eventual addition of a rooftop deck.

"It does feel like a brand-new restaurant, but then again, it's not," said Maybaum. "The new generation is coming in and taking it to another level."
