Middletown man charged with aggravated assault for stabbing at McMahon Park
A Middletown man is charged with aggravated assault among other offenses in connection to a stabbing on Friday afternoon at McMahon Park.
Police had to first sift through multiple calls reporting three different tales of what happened around 4:28 pm.
The first caller reported two adult males were involved in a fight.
A second caller reported that the fight involved juveniles.
The third caller said that the incident involved a stabbing and all parties had left the scene.
Responding Middletown Police Officers arrived on location about four minutes later and confirmed that the fight involved a stabbing and one of the victims had left the scene prior to the arrival of police.
A second victim, who sustained minor injuries, was located on scene, provided medical attention for his injuries and refused transport.
The stabbing victim was located by police and was provided medical attention.
They were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of a non-life threatening stab wound to the torso.
Neither of the victims is being identified by police.
Police then gathered information on where the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle were located.
Within minutes of the initial call, the suspect and the suspect vehicle were located a short distance away by Ptl. Ryan Maguire.
The suspect, identified as Brennan C. Bland, 27, of Middletown, was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and terroristic threats.
Bland was lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a hearing.
