Wednesday at a Planning Board Meeting, they approved a measure to move plans along to build a Wegmans, movie theatre, shopping center, and luxury housing.

While a meeting in August was a packed house of residents who were strongly against the massive construction because of the additional traffic and environment concerns according to the APP, this meeting was not well attended at all. Have the people of Middletown given up?

The plan is for what they are calling a "town center" on Route 35 that would encompass 400,000-square-feet of land. APP is reporting a Wegmans is slated for the site along with 320 luxury townhouses and twin four-story apartment buildings with 80 affordable units.

This wide-open space is where the complex is likely to go.

APP is saying that after Wednesday's meeting one of the developers of the center said that once design specifics are presented to the town that progress would happen "quickly."

Completion of "Village 35" is expected to happen in 2020.

Now, can we just get a Wegmans in Ocean County!?
