The 2019 Monmouth Film Festival at the Two River Theatre in Red Bank is offering much more than a variety of creative flicks.  The event kicks off Thursday, August 8th at 3pm with the feature documentary, Changing the Game about the challenges transgender high school athletes face during competition.  The following feature documentary, 17 Blocks tells the story of one family’s struggle with addiction and violence, which will include a Q & A Panel discussion after the film with CFC members.  Other movies scheduled for Thursday include a feature narrative and a series of shorts.  You will also be able to enjoy the Opening Night Festival Reception and meet with filmmakers, special guests and celebrities.  The festival continues Friday with a variety of short films, the feature narrative drama, South Mountain and the feature documentaries, Hurdle and The Amazing Johnathan Documentary.  Friday’s festivities also include a celebrity talk with actor/comedian, Sinbad at 6:30pm.  Sinbad brings his brand of comedy to an intimate discussion about a career in entertainment including his current projects.  Friday evening’s catered networking event will connect you with essential resources including Backstage, the New Jersey Film Commission, Blackmagic Design, FujiFilm and the New York Film Academy.  Friday is also Film Expo Day for those interested in learning about the latest ground-breaking production technology and technique.  On Saturday, look for Jersey Shorts 1 starting at noon, where you will see creative works all shot in Jersey.  You might even recognize some of the locations.  Saturday’s schedule promises more feature films, the Digital Film Expo and the interactive Industry Panel Discussion, where you can get answers to your questions about various aspects of the entertainment field.  The festival concludes on Sunday with additional creative works and a free workshop, The Art of Producing, which will clarify the daunting process of what to do once the script is complete.  Actors may want to participate in another free workshop, The Art of the Audition.  If you need to polish up your pitch, take advantage of the free workshop, The Art of the Pitch.  Be sure to support our local talent by viewing a collection of award-winning student films in the NJ High School Film Showcase.  Another bonus in this year’s festival honors our veterans with a special segment for NJ Veterans Films.  You’re going to want the VIP passes, so you can take advantage of this versatile, activity-packed industry event.  Click Monmouth Film Festival for pricing information and a complete schedule of events.  See you at the festival!
