National Parks In New Jersey Are Totally Free This Saturday
The weather is going to be stellar this weekend in New Jersey. Happy Spring everyone! That is great news because this weekend you can get out and soak in the sights at any National Park for FREE.
Any area maintained by the National Parks Service is offering admission for free, this Saturday, April 16th in honor of National Parks Week.
It’s not just Jersey with this cool perk, over 400 parks nationwide are waiving admissions as well.
Remember when walking in parks was all we had during the height of COVID? It was such a gift to get out in the fresh air and go walking with your family. It was the only slice of normal that we got for a long time and I’m grateful. Here are my three favorites as ideas for your to try this Saturday. The full list of National & State Parks in New Jersey website is a great resource as well!
Jockey Hollow, right next to historic Morristown. It is near Route 202 in Harding Twp. If you love nature but are also a history buff like my husband is, you will think this is the coolest. It was actually one of the encampments for the Continental Army.
The Delaware Water Gap is such a beautiful experience. My family and I have gone hiking and canoeing there. We even brought our dog on the canoe. It has 70K acres of scenery on 40 miles of the Delaware River and you get an eyeful of the Appalachian Mountains while you do it. There are waterfalls and even a cute beach where you can have a picnic lunch!
If you are on the hunt for powerful and exciting waterfalls then you have to pick The Great Falls of the Passaic River. It is the second-largest waterfall next to Niagara Falls.
It is a Historical Landmark and is considered to be a highly desirable tourism destination. Have fun this Saturday!
