New Attractions at Great Adventure’s Fright Fest
Every year, Six Flags Great Adventure gets into the Halloween spirit with Fright Fest, and this year's edition promises new shows and attractions for the whole family!
The slogan of 'Thrills by day, fright by night' is back again, with plenty of kid-friendly Halloween-themed activities during the day, and good ol' scary fun in the dark!
It kicks off at the park on Saturday, September 20th with some cool events planned for kick-off day:
- The Zombie Race 5k and 15k mud run will take runners through an obstacle course where they'll be chased by zombies trying to grab their 'health flags.' (There's also a zombie-free Survival Race 5k happening earlier in the day that's better for families.)
- The Central Jersey Blood Center will hold a blood drive at the park, and anyone who attempts to donate blood will get a complimentary park admission ticket to use again this year!
Then of course there's the daily Fright Fest features like the Spooktacular Street Dance Party, the new Spooky Kooky Magic Show, and the Trick-or-Treat Trail...all suited for the kids (or the scary-hating big babies like me!) There's also a few interactive animal shows!
After 6 p.m. each night, the 'Fright by night' takes over, with haunted walk-throughs and scare zones. Nearly 200 zombies will be released into the park, and you can check out one of the coolest new features: Crop Circles, an alien-invasion corn maze (but there is an additional fee.)
There are other 'Terror Trails' you can try if you dare, too!
And some of the scariest things of all? Riding Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, Kingda Ka, or El Toro. (I went on El Toro on Monday. Terrifying. And completely worth it.)
Starting this weekend, Great Adventure is only open on Saturdays and Sundays through the end of the month, then open Friday - Sunday through November 2. (Also open on Columbus Day, Monday, October 13.)
