A New Egypt man, who stored thousands of child porn images on his phone and also distributed them over the internet, has now received his prison sentence.

Richard Knight, 40, of New Egypt, was to five years in New Jersey State Prison with a two-year period of parole ineligibility after previously pleading guilty to Distribution of Child Pornography.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer also announced on Friday that Knight was sentenced Knight to five years stemming from a guilty plea to Possession of Child Pornography, and both sentences will run concurrently.

In addition to prison time, Knight will also be subject to the terms of Megan’s Law, along with Parole Supervision for Life.

His deplorable and nefarious activity was put to a grinding halt in December of 2020 when the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force learned Knight was using Google Meets to upload images of child pornography to the internet.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit investigated the matter and was able to trace the uploads to a home in New Egypt.

With enough evidence in hand, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit Detectives, as well as the United States Homeland Security, and Plumsted Township Police executed a court-authorized search warrant on Knight’s residence.

Inside the home, Detectives seized two cell phones, which the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit later found that one of Knight’s cell phones had more than 1,000 images but less than 100,000 images of child pornography stored on it.

Detectives also then learned that Knight distributed child pornography using Google Meets and other social media platforms as well.

Knight was arrested at his place of employment in Browns Mills on June 9, 2021, and has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail ever since.

Prosecutor Billhimer also announced on Friday that Ocean County Senior Assistant Prosecutor Shanon Chant-Berry and Ocean County Senior Assistant Prosecutor Ashley Angelo handled the case on behalf of the State.
