New Jersey Athletes Playing In Super Bowl 51
Five players in this year's Super Bowl hail from the Garden State!
The Patriots feature two players: Cornerback Logan Ryan is from Berlin, NJ, and went to school at Rutgers. Wide receiver Chris Hogan is from Wyckoff and attended Monmouth University. He had a monster day against Pittsburgh, propelling the Pats to yet another Super Bowl.
On the other side, the Falcons have three players born in Jersey, with all three being members of the Wide Receiver corps: Number 2 wideout Mohamed Sanu is from East Brunswick and played at Rutgers, rookie Devin Fuller is from Englewood, and Nick Williams is from East Windsor. Head Coach Dan Quinn was born in Morristown and played football at Morristown High School. Assistant Head Coach / Wide Receivers Coach Raheem Morris was born in Irvington.
Somewhat surprisingly, Rutgers University has the most number of former players on the rosters of the Patriots and Falcons. In addition to Logan Ryan & Mohamed Sanu, the Pats have Rutgers' alums in Devin McCourty, Duron Harmon and the inactive Jonathan Freeny.
