A grove of trees surrounded by two lakes and the Atlantic Ocean was discovered in May, 1869 by a group of Methodist ministers, who inspired others to clear the land, pitch tents and form a community.  The development of permanent buildings and year round cottages provided a place for people to practice the rituals of Christianity and worship Jesus Christ.  In 1894, the Great Auditorium was constructed, which presently seats an audience of 6,250.  By now, you must know I am talking about the unique and Victorian inspired town of Ocean Grove.  Ocean Grove Forever 150th Anniversary will be celebrated this Saturday (August 10th) with all day family-fun festivities. Bible hour begins at 9am before participating in the Historic Walking Tours from 10:30am-11:30am,  Other event activities include a Scavenger Hunt (11am—2pm), Ladies Auxiliary Art in the Park at the Auditorium Pavilion, where you can shop for fine and collectible art, jewelry and literature.  Kids can enjoy the petting zoo, face-painting, carnival games, stem activities and crafts.  Bring your appetite to the Food Truck Festival on Pilgrim Pathway, while enjoying a variety of live bands. Be sure to save room for ice-cream presented by the Ladies Auxiliary from 6pm-9pm.  The celebration concludes with Illumination Night with live music in Auditorium Square Park (8pm-10pm) and a bonfire on the beach at 9pm.  For additional details and a map of the area, click Ocean Grove.
