The Osprey in Manasquan has announced that they will not be opening up for the summer of 2020.

To say the Osprey is legendary is almost an understatement. New Jersey Hall of Famer and iconic actor Jack Nicholson who is from Neptune once worked at the club before his screen career took off.

Legend has it that Bruce Springsteen has his first legal drink a the Osprey. A shot of Jose Cuervo tequila.

Why is the Osprey not opening its doors? According to a post on their Facebook page:

Due to the expected reduction in capacity and the restrictions already in place as to "social distancing."

As of this writing, we are just shy of four weeks away from Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start to summer at the Jersey Shore.

Is this a sign of things to come? NJ.com spoke to Jersey Shore business owners about this past weekend and owners said while it was nice to see people out and about if this is what the summer is going to be like they won't be able to survive.

Many are keeping a positive outlook, including the Osprey. They said on social that they're looking forward to the summer of 2021 and celebrating their 75th anniversary.
