I'm absolutely outraged and in disbelief that New Jersey drivers may get an extra $50 fee every time we travel into the city. That's how you treat your freakin' neighbors?!?!  How greedy can you get?

Going into NYC is usually a mass transit operation for my family.  We take the train to Penn Station, and then we take the subway anywhere we need to go.  Only once in a blue moon do we actually drive.  However, I used to work on air in New York City and since I had such early hours, I needed to travel in before the train even started.  That left me with no choice but to drive.  Can you imagine people in that situation needing to pay an extra $50 fee daily, plus gas and tolls just to drive into the city?

Don't get it twisted, I'm not talking about the cost of parking, I'm talking about a proposed $50 fee that would be charged to any New Jersey driver crossing the border.  Where the hell do they get off?

Their reasoning is so money-hungry it makes me want to explode.  Since New Jersey does not support automated tickets from cameras at red lights (in New York they do), you can't get nabbed when you cross over into New York if you mess up.  Rulebreakers are big business in NYC so they want their "fair share".  Since they can't get revenue from any possible infractions, they will punish us upfront.  All the funds will go into the NYC general fund, whatever that means.

This is only in the proposal stage, but I'm still fuming.  I can't imagine that this would pass because people who commute into the city to work or just to spend money there while visiting are being smacked in the face.  In this day and age in a COVID world, how dare they suggest another expense!  What do you think?
