Deal lifeguards come to the rescue of four boaters whose Hobie Cat vessel capsized in the waters off Deal Casino Beach on Sunday afternoon around 2:45 pm.

Lifeguards Bailey Crochet and Jake Shirley battled some tough winds (25-30 mph) and rowed out in a lifeguard boat to bring the boaters to safety.

Crochet and Shirley began to guide the disabled vessel to shore with all three occupants safely on board when a second Hobie Cat arrived on scene.

One of the occupants of the second Hobie Cat then entered the water trying to help out and ended up becoming the fourth victim.

Crochet and Shirley were able to then assist the fourth victim and bring all four to shore without incident.

The mast at the base of the first Hobie Cat snapped at the base which caused the vessel to be disabled.

Officers on the scene contacted the U.S. Coast Guard who were dispatched to the area.

No injuries are being reported.
