Sometimes with EZ Pass, I don't always pay attention to how much traveling throughout the area costs daily. However, when I would pay with cash it was that constant reminder of how much I'm spending and soon we'll all be paying more.

So whether you're heading into Philly for work or pleasure you're going to be paying a little more.

It's the first price increase in 13 years.

What will the additional money be used for?

NBC10 Philadelphia states that according to DRPA officials, the additional toll revenue will enable the DRPA to complete "several high-priority projects, with the flexibility to adjust plans due to increased costs and inflation."

The money will also help them recruit and retain police officers, according to reports.

"In a statement on the decision, the DRPA's board of commissioners said the move was needed "due to the challenges of enhancing safety and security and maintaining aging infrastructure," according to NBC10 Philadelphia

We still have a little more time before the increase.

The change takes place on September 1st.
