You Won’t Believe Why Potatoes Are Suddenly So Popular In New Jersey
With Easter quickly approaching, have you put up all your decorations yet?
Have you taken the kids to see the Easter Bunny?
Of course, another popular tradition (and it is at my house as well) is decorating eggs.
As we get ready for Easter egg hunts and baskets filled with sweet treats, there's one thing we can't overlook this year, and that's the soaring cost of eggs at the supermarket!

We've all noticed how expensive eggs have become lately.
With the amount of extra money it would cost you to carry out this family tradition of decorating and dyeing eggs, New Jerseyans are getting pretty creative in an effort to save some cash this holiday season.

So, what are people turning to to save money?
POTATOES!!!
Yes, decorating potatoes is the growing trend this year, replacing eggs.
I've seen this on several mom blogs, and have read a few articles about this, and it's definitely a thing this year.
And if you use edible food coloring or edible paint, you can eat your decorated potato for dinner instead of just throwing it away.
Potatoes USA is even getting in on the fun by "encouraging families to embrace a playful, budget-friendly tradition: Easter potatoes!"
Another suggestion that I came across online is that people are not only dyeing potatoes instead of eggs, but they're also using marshmallows too!
The bottom line is that New Jerseyans are getting pretty creative when it comes to saving money this Easter!
Maybe this will stick and become a new family tradition!
