Toms River’s Rivoli’s Unexpectedly Closes
After nearly 30 years in Toms River, Rivoli's restaurant is closed.
In a video posted on the Rivoli's Facebook page, owner Tony Rivoli announced that this would be their last weekend. He mentioned that "an opportunity came along that was little too hard to turn away." Rivoli added that it's been hard for his family to run two restaurants saying "it's hard to be in two places at one time. It's nearly impossible." Rivoli and his family own and operate Rivoli's Grill and Chill in Howell.
Early Saturday morning, Tony Rivoli posted another video to the restaurant page giving a very emotional thank you after reading the reaction to the Toms River eatery shutting down.
The Rivoli's brand has not been a stranger to controversy. In December of 2014, in response to the "Black Lives Matter" movement, “I can breathe. I obey the law.” was displayed on the electronic sign in front of the restaurant. Rivoli and his family have always been known for their vocal support of law enforcement. Rivoli's was also featured on a controversial episode of The Food Network's 'Mystery Diners.'
