Starbucks Unwelcoming New Policy Will Affect New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania Customers
What comes to mind when you think of Starbucks?
Maybe it's crazy expensive but necessary brews or one of the only lines you can tolerate sitting in?

When I think of Starbucks, customer service is number one for me.
Starbucks has a reputation for stellar customer service and a forward-thinking mentality.
This has everything to do with the top-notch employees and not Starbucks itself.
A "new" policy is going into effect soon, and while it may not be best for customers, it will certainly not benefit staff members.
In 2018, Starbucks introduced an all-welcoming open-door policy at all North American locations.
Whether you were a paid customer or not, you were allowed to use the restroom and Internet lounge.
That's all about to change.
The AP reports that bathrooms are only for paid Starbucks customers, effective immediately.
If you want to use the WiFi without grabbing a brew or snack, you'll need to find another spot unless you're willing to pay for it.

Why is Starbucks making bathrooms and lounges for paid customers only?
Starbucks spokesperson Jaci Anderson said in a press release:
We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable in our stores. By setting clear expectations for behavior and use of our spaces, we can create a better environment for everyone.
Having bathroom monitors and lounge laws seems like the opposite of "welcoming" and "comfortable" to me.
Once again, this headache will fall on the employees, who, as you can see, have enough on their plates.
AP reports that "violators" will be asked to leave, and the store may call law enforcement if necessary.
Starbucks said employees would receive training on enforcing the new policy.
Have you ever been on an endless Starbucks line and said, "I'd get my order so much quicker if these bathroom freeloaders and lounge lizards weren't here?"
Also, how will this new policy be enforced? It seems impossible.
When I do my afternoon show from the Asbury Park boardwalk, I bring my laptop and work from Starbucks in Ocean Township during the summer before my show.
I'm a big fan of the black tea lemonade, so I always ordered one, but not for the privilege of being there.
I did notice many professionals that had set up shop with only their earbuds and computers, but never once did I think they should have to buy something.
Let's see how the public reacts to this new way of business at Starbucks.
