Murphy said if the state had decided to extend the perks past Sept. 4 — a move encouraged by President Joe Biden — the state would have to put out more than $1 billion per month to cover the tab.
It can be easy to forget that every night as we lay our heads on comfortable pillows, with full bellies, inside warm homes, that there are kids right here in Monmouth and Ocean Counties that don't have the same basics covered.
