Farm Bureau Report Reveals New Jersey Thanksgiving Meal Savings
How Much Will Thanksgiving Dinner Cost You This Year
Several supermarkets have released Thanksgiving bundles offering big savings on your holiday meal.
At Aldi, if you spend $40, you'll get 21 products that make up a traditional Thanksgiving meal, including the turkey, pie crust, sweet potatoes, cranberries, cut green beans, and more.
At Walmart, their basket feeds 10 people, with more than 20 items for $40: including turkey, potatoes, stuffing mix, fried onions, pie crusts, and boxed macaroni and cheese.

But, if you're wondering how these deals compare to the national average, the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 40th annual Thanksgiving dinner survey is out, providing the average cost of Thanksgiving staples.

According to the report, those Thanksgiving staples will cost about 5% less this year compared to last year, which is great news, and a lot of it has to do with the turkey.
The centerpiece on most Thanksgiving tables – the turkey – dramatically decreased in price, which helped bring down the overall cost of dinner. The average price for a 16-pound frozen turkey is $21.50. That is $1.34 per pound, down more than 16% from last year.
If you're hosting 10 people on Thanksgiving, the average total cost is $55.18, which breaks down to about $5.52 per person.
Key takeaways when it comes to pricing:
- 14-ounces of cubed stuffing mix: $3.71 is down 9%
- 2 frozen pie crusts: $3.37 is down .8%
- 12-ounce bag of fresh cranberries: $2.28 is down 2.8%
A few items that have gone up in price include frozen peas and pumpkin pie mix.
