Let me ask you this: what temperature do you usually set your thermostat to?

69 degrees? Maybe 70?

Well Energy Star, a program run by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency just released a list of suggested temperature settings for "ideal energy efficiency."

Are you ready for this? Here we go:

When you're home, experts say you should set your thermostat no lower than 78 degrees.

When you're sleeping, experts say you should set your thermostat to 82 degrees.

When you are at work or away, experts say you should set your thermostat to 85 FREAKIN DEGREES!

Okay, this is absolutely absurd.

If I set my thermostat to 82 degrees while I am sleeping, I will legit wake up swimming because I will open my eyes in a pool of sweat.

And setting my home to 85 degrees while I am away basically means I should give up my dog now because that temperature is just Ludacris, and dangerous.

They predict that you will save 3% on your utility bill for every degree you raise the thermostat. These temperatures are what we use our air conditioner to avoid so I do believe I will shell out a few extra bucks!

I am all for saving energy but using energy for temperatures like these is probably one of the biggest wastes of energy I have ever heard.

Are ya with me!?
