This Is How To Attend The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade In Style

It's a huge bucket list item to attend the world-famous Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. If you're thinking this is your year to make it happen, I've got some ideas to make it cozy, comfy, and actually possible.

Al Roker is a personal hero of mine!  I'm simply dying to see him in action in person on the parade route!  Realistically, to enjoy this parade you have to go at least the night before.

Of course, it is also a tradition for people to see the balloons getting filled outside of the Museum of Natural History the night before so staying over will also allow for that experience.  Also, if you have a group going (especially if you have little kids), you are going to want a hotel room with a view of the big show.

If you want to really treat yourself, New York Hilton Midtown does it right. They have a spectacular view and they actually offer Thanksgiving Parade packages. This one makes you stay for a 5-night minimum which is not cheap. If you have out-of-towners coming in and they want the full-on NYC experience this is it!  The view looks right over 6^th avenue!  They have an email address set up just to answer any specific questions about the Thanksgiving Day Parade stay. ThanksgivingHiltonNYC@Hilton.com.  I would hurry on this one, it is super popular.  Just imagine seeing all the musical acts up close and personal!

Another idea, for you, is the JW Marriott Essex House.  They have partial view rooms and are just a short walk away from the action.  You’ll have to commit to a three-night stay and parade curb access is first come first serve but at least it is not a 5-night commitment.

For us, The Warwick Hotel is a top contender.  It is located right on 6^th Avenue and since it is on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade route it offers the best view of the parade in the city!  The commitment here is also a three-night stay.  It is super-expensive (like 2k a night expensive) but if you share the cost with another family it is doable for the overall once-in-a-lifetime experience.  They still have a few rooms available.  After all, isn't seeing the Rockettes in person worth almost anything?

Here’s the thing, a room with a view would be epic, but we’re not Rockefeller.  If you want to be more economical, you can stay much further away and walk it.   At the end of the day, my family could just sleep at our house and take the train in at the crack of dawn so we are still deciding how deep to go with all of this.
