Most pundits on both sides of the aisle were predicting a comfortable, new Republican majority in The United States House of Representatives following the midterm elections … with control of the United States Senate being a much closer proposition.

It appears that Republicans have won the majority of The United States House of Representatives however, the margin will be narrower than expected.

A big part of the forecasted new majority is because of New Jersey’s Tom Kean, Jr. in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.

Kean is the former New Jersey State Senate Minority Leader and son of the legendary former New Jersey Governor Tom Kean.

Kean lost in 2020 to Congressman Tom Malinowski in a very close election.

It appears that the second time is the charm, as with 95 percent of the vote counted, Kean leads Malinowski by a margin of 52.3 (153,082) to 47.7 (139,404).

Kean May have been the only Republican candidate in New Jersey who could defeat Malinowski in yesterday’s election.

This will give Republicans 3 seats in the 11-seat New Jersey delegation, where Kean will join Jeff Van Drew, 2nd and Chris Smith, 4th.

Van Drew and Smith both won re-election yesterday with more than 60 percent of the vote.

Also, United States Senator Robert Menendez’ son (of the same name) won about 73 percent of the vote in New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District.

At this hour (5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022), there are still 63 House races that have not yet been called.

Republicans only need 18 if the 63 to win the majority. It’s not a matter of “if” … but “when” they cross this threshold and make their new majority official.

The United States Senate majority presently hangs in the balance, just as it did in 2020.

The current composition is 50 Republicans, 48 Democrats and two independents, who caucus with the Democrats. Essentially, making it a 50-50 evenly divided Senate.

At this hour, it’s currently 48 Republicans and 48 Democrats.

Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia will decide which major political party will hold the majority of The United States Senate.

Republican Senator Ron Johnson currently holds a small lead in Wisconsin.

Republican challenger Adam Laxalt is leading in Nevada over incumbent Catherine Cortez Masto.

Incumbent Senator Mark Kelly leads Republican challenger Blake Masters in Arizona with only 60 percent of the vote counted.

We may very well see Georgia decide Control the United States Senate for the second consecutive election cycle.

Incumbent senator Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker will both fail to reach 50% plus one vote, which is Required to win on the first ballot.

This pivotal seat will be decided in a winner take all, runoff election on December 6, 2022.
