Last week, police and the Monmouth County SPCA asked for the public's help after four kittens were found dead along Monmouth Blvd. in Oceanport. It was presumed that the animals were tossed from a car in an act of animal cruelty.

The Asbury Park Press reports that as police investigated the incident, they came upon a home with a surveillance system that caught it all on film, showing it was not purposeful cruelty, but rather an unfortunate accident.

The video shows the kittens falling from the engine compartment of an SUV, without the unidentified motorist even realizing it happened. He will not be charged.

It is believed the kittens were among the many strays in the area.
