Very Busy Ocean County Road Closed Until Further Notice

It would be wise to plan ahead as a heavily traveled section on Route 37 will be closed until further notice, according to officials.

Miraculously, no one was killed after a vehicle struck a deer at mile marker 1.5 on Route 37 in Manchester around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

After hitting the deer, the vehicle then smashed into a tractor-trailer tanker truck containing 8,700 gallons of fuel.

The driver was an 18-year-old from Forked River according to the Manchester Police Department.

The driver of the truck was on 46-year-old from Voorhees.

He was taken to Community Medical Center for observation, but no injuries were reported.

For a time on Wednesday Route 37 in the area of the collision was completely shut down.

Because the fireball severely damaged both sides of Route 37 in the area, repairs will need to be made after investigations are completed.

According to a report from NJ.com, Route 37 between Commonwealth Boulevard and Bone Hill Road will be closed for "the foreseeable future."
