Victoria’s Secret & Bath & Body Works Closing Stores For Good
Following a shutdown message from Pier 1 Imports earlier this week, Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works have announced they are closing stores permanently.
The two retailers are owned by L Brands and the company is set to shut down 250 stores in the U.S. and Canada by the end of this year. No word on which operations will get the ax.
Monmouth-Ocean Victoria's Secret locations include the Ocean County Mall in Toms River, Brook 35 in Sea Girt, Freehold Raceway Mall, and Monmouth Mall.
Bath & Body Works has setups at the Ocean County Mall in Toms River, Brook 35 in Sea Girt, Jackson Premium Outlets, The Commons at Holmdel, Monmouth Mall in Eatontown, Freehold Raceway Mall, and Jersey Premium Outlets in Tinton Falls.
The reason for the closings? L Brands announced that sales at both Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works were off by 40% in just the first quarter of 2020 alone.
Pier 1, JCPenney, Macys, and now Victoria Secret and Bath & Body Works. Sad.
Retail was already on the decline, but COVID-19 has really decimated brick and mortar stores across the board.
I'm trying to stay optimistic, but I'm afraid more of these closing announcements are coming. Hopefully, New Jersey will fair ok.
