Beloved New Jersey Diner Is Reopening After Sitting Empty for a Year
This one should have Jersey diner fans sitting down because it’s actually good news for once. After what seems like an endless string of classic NJ diners closing, another familiar location is having a second life. And, not just anything random or trendy, but something that makes you feel good. It’s coming back the way it was always supposed to. As a diner.

A familiar building with a lot of questions
When this diner closed its doors about a year and a half ago it happened fast. One day it was open; the next it was dark. People notice these things. Mainly because diners are beloved, and also because we’ve seen this story before. Local hotspot closes, massive eyesores like self storage units go up. So, the community wanted to know. Was the building sold? Was it being torn down? Was it going to sit vacant forever?

The whispers turn into something real
Freeway 42 is on the ground and reports that after driving past the building for a brief while, it got more interesting. There was activity. A construction trailer out back. Lights on inside. It was enough on its own to raise eyebrows. A new owner confirmed what many people had hoped for, the article added.

A diner family stepping in again
The Voorhees Diner on Route 73 is officially being taken over by the Pandora Diner family. Yes, that Pandora. The same group that already runs multiple well-known diners in Williamstown, Springfield Township, Hainesport, and Cinnaminson.
Those in the know say they plan to reopen the space as a full-service diner serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Upgrades are already underway inside, though there is no reopening date just yet. That part makes sense. Anyone who has watched diner renovations knows they take time.
If you have ever eaten at a Pandora location, you already know the reputation. Solid food. Friendly staff. Places that feel like actual diners, not just buildings with diner signs.
I write so many articles about closings. It’s such a breath of fresh air to share the news of not only an opening, but a diner opening. Good luck to the new staff.
