Wakeup call works – SLEEPER graffiti suspect turns himself in
The social media buzz that grew after Brick Township police posted surveillance images of a suspected graffiti artist Thursday delivered the results they hoped. The man they sought walked into headquarters.
Police today said that Seamus Hulick, 20, of Brick, showed up on his own accord when he learned that his photo had been distributed to mass media outlets and migrated to social media.
Police believe that Hulick is responsible for the legend SLEEPER, scrawled on buildings and cars in the township's north end.
He was charged with criminal mischief and released, but police noted that the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case. County investigators will determine if more or different charges are warranted.
Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
