I turn to you, our wonderful audience, in hopes of getting an answer to this question...

Why was there a guy in a prison costume at the corner of 9th & Bay in Ocean City on the evening of the 4th of July?

And I'm assuming it was a 'costume' and not a 'uniform.'

I drove into Ocean City on the evening of the 4th of July and right as you entered town at the light at 9th & Bay was a guy standing on the corner in a traditional black-and-white prison costume (the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce people must have loved that visual).

Needless to say, he caught my attention. I was perplexed, amused, very slightly concerned but not really, and interested all at the same time.

Perplexed because I didn't see him holding a sign or anything as if to bring attention to a cause or an issue. Certainly, if you want to make your opinion heard, standing at that corner on the 4th of July wearing zebra stripes would do it. But this guy wasn't doing anything that I could tell.

I don't think I missed a memo about a costume parade or something. And from what I can tell, the Doo Dah Parade isn't on the 4th of July. And even if it was, it wouldn't make someone stand in traffic in a prison costume.

I suppose the whole 'if you see something, say something' line should have been in play here -- but (and this is a guess since I've never seen the inside of a jail or prison) I don't think they dress inmates at the Cape May County Correctional Facility that way.

So I ask you, do you know anything about the guy in Ocean City who was wearing the prison costume?
