So maybe you have teens who consider themselves too old to trick or treat. Here are some ways we have found to still enjoy Halloween.

1. I put out little Halloween bowls around the house and fill them with the boys' favorite kinds of candy so that they have a couple of weeks of fun munchies around the house that they really do like (instead of coming home with a whole pillowcase full of junk that they wouldn't normally touch.) ... And, btw, this photo was taken by my son who saw the artistic beauty in a bowl full of chocolates.

2. I let the boys go shopping for the candy they would like to hand out to trick-or-treaters, so that even though they aren't going door to door, they can still be involved in whoever comes to our door.

3. I have spoken to other teens (friends of my boys') who think it is fun to dress in a scary costume just to answer the door to other trick-or-treaters. This way they can still partake in the gore without having to walk through the neighborhood with all of the younger kids.

4. If you have teens who are good with younger kids or have younger siblings or cousins, they can enjoy the day with those kids by taking them trick or treating without having to dress up themselves. Or have them walk the younger kids this weekend, in costume, through The Glow! It's in Oceanport and you can get your tickets HERE!

5. Use the Halloween season as an excuse to bake pumpkin bars, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies...and all other things pumpkin! Or pick a chilly day to go out for a Pumpkin Latte at a coffee shop.

6. If your teen is into the scary stuff, find one of the insanely scary Haunted Hayrides or asylum-type Haunted Houses, or Haunted Train Rides!

7. Throw your own costume party.
