The Biggest Loser’s Bob Harper Has Some Advice For You
If you want an expert opinion on how to drop a few pounds for the summer, here are some of the tips Bob Harper gave us when we had him on our show this morning.
Bob’s got a new book out called “The Skinny Rules…The Simple, Nonnegotiable Principles for Getting to THIN” and it was awesome to get to talk to him! Here is some of the advice he offered:
— Weigh yourself every day. You need to have that information, no matter how uncomfortable it makes you feel.
— Set small goals. Don’t try to wrap your brain around the total amount of weight you have to lose. Set smaller goals like five pounds at a time, and see what you can do today to at least start eating better.
—Drink at least five large glasses of water a day, including one the minute you wake up in the morning, and one before each meal.
— When it comes to working out, one aerobics class a day isn’t enough to burn off more than 300 calories, which is probably less than a single meal that you’re eating. You need to push yourself out of your comfort zone and eat right along with more exercise.
— Don’t drink your calories. Energy drinks, recovery drinks, flavored water and even diet soda do nothing but pack on pounds. They are full of sugar and calories…except for the diet soda, which TRIGGERS you to crave sugar because of it’s ‘fake’ sugar taste.
Bob says out of 13 seasons, two of his favorite contestants on The Biggest Loser were Olivia (who won) and her sister Hannah (who came in second place) because they were two girls who never thought they could amount to much, and instead Bob was able to show them that they could do anything they put their minds to.
I’m reading the book now and loving it. Bob Harper is truly an amazing personal trainer, and one of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of interviewing. He knows all about the struggle most of us face when it comes to keeping in shape, and he has the best ‘bedside manner’ ever. Thanks for the motivation, Bob!
