Bittersweet Dismantling of Jet Star Coaster

How could something meant to bring great memories have become the visual symbol of a storm that brought so many painful memories?

The dismantling of the Jet Star Coaster begins today and with it, a landmark of the Jersey Shore will disappear. Sadly, so many people around the world will remember only the devastation that the half submerged Jet Star came to represent.

That coaster had some great memories in it, too. So many Jersey Shore residents and tourists have laughed and screamed on the Jet Star, and now they can say they were on it when Sandy stories inevitably come up in conversation over the years.

And today, we begin to say goodbye to the Jet Star. Some of the more recent memories we are glad to let go of, but we will grasp onto many other good memories that will live on in our minds.
