Bizarre Gang Initiation Ritual in Lakewood Leads to Bias Charges
A Lakewood man is behind bars after attempting to knock down an Orthodox Jewish woman as part of a gang initiation ritual Tuesday night. 18-year-old Rafael Laurano-Flores was collard near 9th Street and Clifton Avenue after police received calls about a possible attempted kidnapping.
According to the Lakewood Scoop, an incident was first reported at around 7:30 pm. when a 16-year-old girl said she was chased on East 5th Street by an unknown suspect. Moments later, police received a call about a similar incident on Lawrence Avenue about the attempting luring of a mother and daughter.
Laurano-Flores is charged with obstruction, resisting, biased intimidation and bias harassment. His bail is set at $18,000. An investigation is ongoing.
