On Saturday, Nov. 24th, you're invited to Manasquan to sweat out the stuffing to help at-risk and disadvantaged kids.

The Atlantic Club is partnering with Gleason's Boxing Gym to benefit NJ Give a Kid a Dream.

The Fieldhouse at The Atlantic Club will host a post-Thanksgiving workout to raise money for at-risk youth. And it's open to the public.

Sign up for Burn the Bird: The ultimate, super circuit workout hosted by The Atlantic Club in Manasquan and Jackie Atkins of Gleason's Gym in Long Branch.

You're encouraged to make a $20 donation when you register, with all proceeds going to NJ Give a Kid a Dream (NJGAKAD).

Gleason's "Give a Kid a Dream" was established in 1991 and provides mentorship to disadvantaged youth through the mental and physical sport of boxing. Each person this organization helps receives a membership to the boxing gym, basic equipment and a boxing trainer, and is required to attend tutoring as part of their training.

Jackie Atkins says that often when an athlete stands in front of a bag, especially some of the kids that are dealing with anger issues and have experienced violence in their life, they see that bag as a way to just let go of all of the suffering and pain. Jackie is a two-time Golden Glove Winner, Boxing Coach to Olympic Athletes, and founder of NJGAKAD.

Gleason's trainers volunteer their time and significantly reduced training rates in order to accommodate participants. In earlier years, Jackie personally funded the program with her salary from her career with Bell Labs. She has since retired to focus on Give a Kid a Dream.

Give a Kid a Dream relies on donations to keep the doors open and to grow the program. Jackie has most recently worked with The Atlantic Club to develop programming for their FITBOX studio classes at The Fieldhouse. The super circuit workout will be lead by The Fieldhouse's certified personal trainers and include boxing, TRX, Kettlebells, and more.

Two class times are available on Saturday, Nov. 24th: 9:30 am and 11 am. Each class has a 32-person capacity. Mike Murphy, manager at The Fieldhouse, likes that Give a Kid a Dream uses sport and fitness to provide children in our area with a solid foundation, guidance, and a chance at a better future. The Atlantic Club supports such a worthy cause.
