Everyone knows that Liz and I don't socialize, but when two of our favorite people invited us to dinner, we thought we'd give it a try.

Here are two reasons it went well. First, our friends Don and Millie Walsh are two of the nicest people on the planet and it's so easy to have fun with them. Secondly, I brought my lovely wife, Diane.

Now, here's one reason it didn't go so well. Liz's appetite. Let me explain. Liz got there and was instantly declaring how famished she was because this was such a late dinner for her. It was 4:25 p.m. Yep, 4:25 p.m., and yes that's east coast time.

Then there was the ordering. It went from her not knowing what to order, to saying she was going to order three things, to finally making everyone else order first so she had the most time to decide.

Then there were the corn fritters. I ordered them. Liz did not. But guess who ate the last three? She was staring at them until I pushed my plate away with three left. My finger hadn't lost contact with the plate and she was already bellowing "Are you done with that?"

Now, I don't mind sharing, but I think we'd all agree, it's uncomfortable when a co-worker stalks your corn fritters.
