NJ Town Bills Residents for Lawn Care After Sandy

Some southern New Jersey residents whose homes were wrecked by Superstorm Sandy are upset about bills they are getting from the township for lawn-mowing services.

The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/1eIjMtZ ) reports that Little Egg Harbor Township billed homeowners more than $19,000 in 2013 for mowing and lawn maintenance services.

Assistant township administrator Michael Fromosky tells the newspaper that the bills are part of a routine practice to keep the community looking good.

But this year, many of the bills went to homes in the hard-hit Mystic Island section.

Resident Geri DeMedici-Lentz says she and her husband never returned to their home. She says that tending to the yard was not on their minds as they battled with insurers over the costs of damages from the October 2012 storm.
