A friend of mine was recently faced with this dilemma. How would you handle it?

While my friend (who is a mom of a preteen) was standing in line to check out at a store in our area, she saw a preteen in front of her steal something.

She asks this specific question:

"Curious, what would you do if you saw a preteen steal something who was in front of you in a checkout line? And no one saw it other than you?"

What would you do?

When we brought this up on the morning show this morning, some of the responses including telling the preteen that she had been spotted and then hopefully they'd put back what they stole, or not saying anything because you are dealing with a minor who may have a parent that doesn't want you disciplining their kid, some said tell the store manager, while others thought that would create more harm for the preteen than warning them yourself that they did something wrong and that they were spotted doing it.

Many agreed that this is a 'teachable moment' and that this preteen should not be allowed to completely get away with stealing while the person who saw them do it chose to ignore their behavior.
